Print / Export

Post by AndyB » Fri Jun 06, 2014 1:30 am

Hi Board,

Working with DL and DLM since about one year now. I would like to make a printout only of my list of Dives. There is only a "Full Screen" Printout of the current dive. Would be nice if getting either a additional print form or at least a export function to create own printouts.

Regards
Andreas

Hello Andreas,

You're right - it would be better to have a more flexible printing solution. Unfortunately, not very many people are actually printing their dives these days :-) But it could be a lot better than it is.

We do plan on adding an export feature fairly soon as well. But it would be good to get feedback from customers on what export format you would be looking for. We have had requests for DL7 format, but if you have a different format in mind, please let us know.

In the mean time, here is a NOT very elegant way to get a print of your dive summary:
- Select the dives panel. Your printed Dive summary will be the same as the bottom "view" in the list of Dives.
- Resize the bottom portion of the window to be a size that you would like to print. You can resize the entire window and also use the little "nib" underneath the "Details" tab to increase or decrease the height. You can drag the column sizes around as well. Make the size of the summary just big enough to hold the number of dives you want in your summary. Scroll the view so that the starting dive of your summary is at the top.
- Do "Command-Shift-4" on the keyboard to initiate a screen shot. Using the mouse, select the area on the screen corresponding to the summary

You now have a screenshot PNG file you can print on your Desktop. It's not ideal but it does get the job done :-)
